I bet Twitter will replace SMS someday. How many times have you sent out a mass text to people letting you know what’s going on, where you’re at, or the latest qoute you just stole from Steven Colbert?
Imagine publishing that line once, and everyone you want to see it, sees it. Except you won’t be paying $0.10 each time.

The tipping point will come when people are jumping on Twitter like they are on Facebook. Some are, just not in my social ring – yet.
For me, I’m already seeing myself lean away from FB, just like I leaned away from MySpace 16 months ago. People called me crazy then. But the only people with active MySpace accounts now are 1) Bands, and 2) Perves.

after finally using it a bit, i think you may be right. with directs and replies, sms is useless and twit is free…
remember though that not all devices can twit at the moment so it may be a while. i actually see this replacing IM and SMS. i am not sure how popular IM is anyway. I have not used it in years myself
yeah. I think mobile phones can text into it, but nothing beats the BlackBerry and iPhone apps for it.
