Proclaiming
I was having a conversation last week with a ministry friend. We were chatting about how gatherings of people could become more interactive. Our generation, and the ones to follow, or quickly growing up with interaction. American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother, Face Book, and Twitter are highly interactive.
Yet the church seems to still be 1 guy on the stage verses a crowd of people. Yeah, there are churches who have you text in a question to the dude on the stage with a script. Although cool, it’s still lame compared to what the world is knocking out.
Although I’d like to explore the options to see how we can leverage technology to further people’s relationship with God, he said one thing that hit me hard.
“There will always need to be a proclaimer. Someone will always have to proclaim what is right to the crowd.”
And that is what Paul did to the Philippians. Although he couldn’t be there, he was writing to them to constantly remind the crowd of what was right.
