Impressing for Selfish Reasons

Many people live to make a good impression on others. They really don’t care about others. They just care about what others think of them.

What is more selfish than that? The only time the thought of others enters your mind is when it concerns your benefit.

Selfishness brings discord. From my experience, discord isn’t fun at all. Not the least bit.

Unless you live out in left field, then you somehow like it. Chances are you probably like every reality tv show as well. 

Opps. I just realized I like the discord that Dwight Schrute brings in The Office. Schrute. What a cool name.

When I choose to be selfish and place my needs, my esteem, and my ego above others, I strain the relationships I have in God’s family. 

That is why Paul says, “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had…”
